Aankhen (English: The Eyes) is a 1968 film produced and directed by Ramanand Sagar. After the surprise big hit of Farz as a spy thriller, Mr Sagar came out with a bigger budget film in the same genre, filmed in many international locations. The film stars Dharmendra, Mala Sinha, Mehmood, Lalita Pawar, Jeevan and Madan Puri. The music is by Ravi and the lyrics by Sahir Ludhianvi.

The film is considered to be a pioneer in Hindi spy films. Even today when viewers watch the film, they admire it for the sheer technical brilliance and exotic locales shown. The film was initially planned to be shot when Dharmendra was just one-film old. But the director Ramanand Sagar had apprehensions of casting him since he was considered raw and was not yet a star. However with the success of Phool Aur Paththar, Ramanand Sagar decided to increase his budget and cast Dharmendra as the leading man of the film. The film went on to become a huge hit and Dharmendra was in the top league. His other movie of the year Shikar went on to be a golden jubilee hit and he became an actor of reckoning.

Neel Kamal is a 1968 film directed by Ram Maheshwari.

 Synopsis

Sita (Waheeda Rehman) and her friends go for a trip, at night Sita sleepwalks and when she is about to be killed by a train walking on the rail track ,Ram (Manoj Kumar) saves her and her father decides her marriage with him. But after her marriage with Ram, Sita discovers that her sleepwalking is not a simple sleepwalking but it takes her to the story of her past life - Chitrasen(Raaj Kumar) an artisan is in love with Sita (Neelkamal in her past life) the princesss but the king denies, and packs him up in a very small circular cabin (a method used by Indian kings to punish anybody to death, also known as burying) and eventually Chitrasen dies. His love for Neelkamal is immortal and his soul survives for centuries to meet Neelkamal.

Sita is invited to Chitrasen's place by a Hindi song "Aaja tujh ko pukare mera pyar" playback by Mohd. Rafi Saheb, meaning "come here, my love calls you" She sleepwalks to Chitrasens place every night, her mother-in-law, a very cross person believes that Sita is in love with some other boy and hates her. One night sita reaches Chitrasen's place and a brief conversation ends up with Chitrasen's soul free and Sita unconscius, Ram rescues her. They lead a good life.

Waheeda Rehman won the Filmfare Best Actress Award for her role in this film.

Padosan (Hindi: पड़ोसन, Urdu: پڑوسن) is a 1968 Indian Hindi film. Directed by Jyoti Swaroop, and written by Rajendra Krishan. The music is by R.D. Burman.

The movie is a lighthearted comedy and tells the story of a simpleton (Sunil Dutt) and his neighbour (Saira Banu). Dutt falls for his neighbour and woos her with a little help from his friends (Kishore Kumar, Mukri, Raj Kishore and Keshto Mukherjee). Mehmood as the South Indian musician and rival to Sunil Dutt is among the highlights of the film.

It is a remake of the Telugu film Pakkinti Ammayi (1953) starring Anjali, Relangi, and singer A M Raja. It was again remade into the Telugu film Pakkinti Ammayi (1981) starring Jayasudha.

Synopsis

A simpleton named Bhola (Sunil Dutt) falls in love with his neighbor Bindu (Saira Banu). To impress her he wants to sing to her. However, he isn't a good singer and so seeks the help of his friend, Guru (Kishore Kumar). Guru, a famous singer, agrees to help his friend. To impress Bindu, Guru sings in the background and Bhola mouths the words. Bindu is charmed by what she thinks is Bhola's singing. They become friends and fall in love. Bindu has a music teacher named Master Pillai/Masterji (Mehmood) who is also in love with her and keeps proposing to her. Bindu loves Bhola and hence refuses Masterji.

One day Bindu finds out about Bhola's lie. She is very upset and refuses to meet Bhola. In a rage, she decides to marry Masterji instead. They both prepare for the wedding, while Bhola thinks of a way to get Bindu back.

On the wedding day, Guru gets an idea. He makes Bhola pretend to have committed suicide. He puts a fake suicide note next to Bhola. Bhola has a noose around his neck and a chair next to him. Guru goes and tells the news to Bindu. She is shocked. She leaves her wedding altar and runs to Bhola. She reads the note and starts to repent. Bindu then tries to wake Bhola up. Bhola wakes up and Bindu is delighted. She tells Masterji that she wants to marry Bhola and he agrees. Bhola and Bindu get married.

Music

The music of the film was composed by Rahul Dev Burman and the lyrics were written by Rajendra Krishan.

Reportedly the song 'Ek Chatur Naar' (a duet by Kishore Kumar and Manna Dey) was partly improvised by Kishore Kumar at the time of recording and Manna Day, determined to show Kishore Kumar how he would sing the duet better (since Kishore had not been trained classically), got into the mood of the song and immortalized 'Ek Chatur Naar'. Legend also has it that Manna Dey was upset by the fact that in the picturisation of the song, the singing competition between the two heroes (Dutt and Mehmood) was won by Dutt, for whom the background singing was done by Kishore. Dey didn't like the fact that a classically trained singer like himself would have to lose, though only on-screen, to an un-trained singer (Kishore).

Kishore Kumar's character in the film was inspired by the personality of his uncle, Dhananjay Banerjee (a classical singer).

Plot

Rajesh (Dilip Kumar), though orphaned at a very age, comes from a very wealthy and noble family, but is very insecure. His childhood sweetheart Meena, tragically dies also and Rajesh substitutes her with a doll. When he found that another young boy had touched the doll, he starts a fight with him, and ends up murdering him. Years later, Rajesh now a grown man, still has the doll in his closet and he has now fallen in love with a woman named Meena (Waheeda Rehman) and becomes engaged to her after the approval of his best friend, Dr. Shekhar (Manoj Kumar), and soon gets formally engaged to Meena. However Rajesh and Meena have an automobile accident, in which Rajesh becomes paralysed and must be confined in a wheelchair. It is then that Rajesh finds out that Shekhar and Meena are having an affair, and his old murderous and possessive hatred surfaces again and his best friend Shekhar's life is in danger.
